Backup Services

For effective business continuity, the Office of the CIO provides data backup solutions and backup consulting for state agencies in the event of a hardware failure or disaster. Our services include:

• using Symantec™ Backup Exec™ software, Symantec™ Veritas NetBackup™ software, and Vizioncore™ VMware® software,
• installing and configuring backup software
• configuring for full, incremental, and differential backups
• providing backup solutions and support for tape, CD, DVD, direct-attached storage (DAS), network-attached storage (NAS), and/or storage-area network (SAN)
• rotating the media using the grandfather-father-son rotation scheme (or a scheme tailored to the agency's needs)
• coordinating offsite storage, pickup, and delivery of media through the State Record Center
• restoring and testing the restoration
• monitoring and notifying customers of successful or failed backups
